Working with darker skin tones

Lately, I haven't had too much opportunity working with darker skin tones. So, my neighbor becomes my victim. I enjoy working on her face, because her skin is so flawless, like a Hershey's chocolate bar, smooth with not one mark of imperfection. Although, my mother always says that darker skin tones don't need makeup, I will argue, that some may have a bit of discoloration in a few areas on their face, and the only thing they may want makeup for is to even the tone.

The problem with makeup for darker skin tones, is that it is always so difficult to find a color match. But, I recently found a beautiful dark warm tone made by Kevyn Aucoin.  I grabbed a sample from SpaceNK, and got my neighbor to come let me play on her face. SUCCESS!  The color matched her perfectly, and made her skin flawless!  I used Ben Nye loose powder in topaz and it completed an overall flawless look.

I've learned, when it comes to darker skin tones, it's better to go darker. Even in highlights. Sometimes, you need to use a darker skin highlighter to complete that glow on a darker skin tone.

Well, that's all for my blog for today. My first one, hope ya'll like!
